Into the Woods, Jr. opens at Fauquier Community Theatre.

This June, in a spirited and daring classic revered for a century, FCT’s youngest actors will present Into the Woods, Jr. Directed by lifelong Fauquier county resident and educator Cathy Davis, and produced by Saralyn Aylor, Into the Woods, Jr. exudes humor, inspiration and life lessons. The cast includes 22 young men and women ages 10-18 from Fauquier and surrounding counties. The twisted, comedic fairy tale is family-friendly and for all ages. Featuring Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and his beanstalk, the Witch, Rapunzel, and of course the Wolf and other memorable characters, Into the Woods, Jr. is a shortened version of the Tony-award winning musical. 6th Annual Rubber Duck Race

Three Fox Vineyard, 10100 Three Fox Ln., Delaplane.

It’s a jam-packed day at Three Fox Vineyard! Pick your favorite rubber duck and watch him race down the rapids of Crooked Run. Prizes for the winners and lots of fun for all the kids! The competition starts at 2 p.m. In addition, Lieutenant Colonel (R) Eric W. Buckland, a retired Army Special Forces Officer and award-winning author of six books about some of the men who rode with the famous and legendary Mosby’s Rangers during the Civil War will join us from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. to sell and sign his books. Upperville Colt and Horse Show

Ice Cream Basics

Gentle Harvest, 8372 West Main Street, Marshall. 12 – 1:30 p.m.

An introduction to the basics of making great ice cream from home using local and organic ingredients! Our Executive Pastry Chef, Katie, will demonstrate how to make the perfect ice cream and sorbet from start to finish. During this 90-minute class, Katie will work through a couple of different recipes for ice cream and sorbet that you can replicate at home. Flower Arranging: A Sunday with the Library Program

Piedmont Environmental Council, 45 Horner St., Warrenton. 2-4 p.m.

Ever wonder how to make fantastic flower arrangements, instead of just sticking flowers in a vase and fluffing them up? You’re in luck! Warrenton resident Doug Larson will draw upon years of personal and professional experience as he demonstrates designs – from simple arrangements to larger displays – that anyone can use in home entertaining. Comfort Cases Packing Party

Linton Hall School, 9535 Linton Hall Road, Bristow

Packing Party 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. After party 12:30 – 2:30 p.m.

Each year, thousands of children enter foster care carrying little more than the clothes on their backs. Comfort Cases is an organization that assembles a backpack/bag with essentials for their journey into foster care for these children. Please consider donating items for children or infants or volunteering at their Packing Party on Saturday, when volunteers assemble the backpacks for distribution.
