Ladies, when was the last time you put aside your to-do list? Let go of all expectation? Gave yourself the gift of pause and put yourself first?
As women, we work and handle, juggle and manage…and we rock at it, don’t we? I believe it’s time to add in some true self-care and some recognition of hidden treasures.
You see, I believe that all of us have gifts inside. But we let them get buried. We tend to let it happen while we’re busy taking care of everyone else. Yes, of course we enjoy our jobs and our families. But my goal is to give women an opportunity to slow down enough to recognize inspiration, connect with their inner creative energy and reconnect with the notion of enjoying the journey we are on.
If you’re ready to relax, restore, and renew, why not grab a friend and spend a week at creativity camp?
The Yellow Brick Road Studio’s “Joy of the Journey” creativity camp started in 2017 with four participants. As word spread, that number doubled. Women began recognizing the need to refresh and tune into their creativity. As a result, this coming summer there will be two camps, the week of July 15-19 and the week of August 5-9.
Campers enjoy a supportive and fun small-group atmosphere. They experience art lessons where new techniques are explored and creativity is encouraged in a safe space. They paint, sketch, collage and more. They allow themselves to embrace new creative adventures. And no previous art talent is required.
Journaling is another large component. Each day, campers are presented with a theme to write about. Self-discovery takes place as participants feel inspired to think and write about their past experiences, current ideas and thoughts about the future. Poetry is delved into as well.
Because nature is so very inspirational, campers enjoy walks through either Conway Robinson State Park or Stone Bridge Battlefield and, weather permitting, even picnic on the premises. During last year’s camp, participants picnicked at a local winery. New friends, nature, and wine. What’s not to like?
Along the way, campers are pampered and surprised by little gifts, notes and tokens. Guest presenters are another unique aspect of the Joy of the Journey camp and have included poets, Myers-Briggs experts and massage therapists. In the past, campers have also gone on field trips to restaurants and spas. Every week is different and the ladies are kept guessing.
One of last year’s participants wrote: “The director of the Joy of the Journey camp did a fabulous job of making us feel special and included. Everyday brought new gifts, new adventures and new techniques that allowed us to grow both personally and creatively. Perfect for any woman interested in exploring (or expanding) her creative side while making delightful, new friends. I highly recommend this experience!”
Joy of the Journey is the perfect opportunity for any woman interested in reawakening her creativity, getting messy and making connections. You deserve the gift of time and space to connect with your inner visions and express them in a supportive small-group environment.
