Please share one of the greatest moments you’ve experienced in your current profession.

We, my wife Celeste and I, have the opportunity to provide our services to those who have been wounded protecting our interests around the world.  We provide a mosquito/tick free environment for the Serve Our Willing Warriors Retreat Center in Haymarket. I met one of the families and was overwhelmed when he told me about his family “reunion” and since he knew who I was, he thanked me for making it a safe place for his “city” kids.

Tell us about your experience with the HGBA. How has it supported you in your local business?

HGBA provides me with two things: First, a place to increase my exposure to potential customers, and second, a place to go for me to buy local.

What are the top three business tips and tricks can you offer other professionals?

  1. Know your demographics and be able to meet its expectations.
  2. Connect with the community by being visible as an entity.
  3. Give back when you can. Haymarket and Gainesville have lots of worthy causes to support.

Are you from this area? If not, what brought you here and what do you like about our town?

I am a retired military veteran and a military brat.  I have never lived anywhere as long as I have now lived in Haymarket.  We came here to be in a rural setting with land and space. We are also stargazers, something you can’t do easily in Manassas and east of here.

What is your favorite season in this area, and why?

We love the winter and early spring because we own a seasonal business. God takes care of mosquitoes and ticks, so we can enjoy the down time and travel.

What are some hobbies you enjoy?

We love reading and golf and taking walks.  We also like to travel and see our extended family.

What is your favorite restaurant?

Here in Haymarket, El Vaquero is our favorite comfort food restaurant.

What is your favorite local high school sports team?

We support Battlefield HS.

Are you involved with any nonprofits? If so, which one(s) and why?

Celeste is the president of the GFWC Dominion Woman’s Club, and I am the Grand Knight of the Fr. Jon O’Brien Council, St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Mission, as well as a member of the Ancient Order of the Hibernians, the Heritage Hunt Chapter of MOAA, and the American Legion Post 1799.

We are involved because we have always supported our local community, our church and the noblest of charities we can find.  Each of the above raise money for our youth and/or our community. We are still strong supporters of the Haymarket Regional Food Pantry.

What was your first job, or your most interesting job prior to your current profession?

My first job was as a Naval Aviator.  I flew the P-3 Orion, Anti-Submarine Warfare aircraft and have been all over the globe defending America’s interests.  I flew in the Gulf War keeping our aircraft carriers safe during Desert Storm.
