When and why did you decide to pursue a real estate career?
I always had an interest in real estate as I grew up with parents who taught me that it was the best investment. I started my real estate career about 6 years ago with RE/MAX Gateway. They have five offices in Northern Virginia and offered great training and support.

How does your business serve the local community?
I help families transition to the area, whether the client is a first time home buyer, or someone looking for a larger home, by letting them know all the benefits of living here as there are many. I also love assisting clients who are downsizing and considering 55+ communities or neighborhoods with smaller homes. There are so many new-builds and more  55+ communities on the way.

Please share one of the greatest moments you’ve experienced in your current profession.
I hold awards from RE/MAX 100% Club and NVAR Top Producer (formerly the Multi-Million Dollar Sales Club), and recently became a qualified trainer for the Virginia Housing Development Authority’s  Homeownership Education Program. VHDA offers grants and closing cost assistance to those who qualify. It’s a wonderful opportunity to help those who want to purchase a home.

Tell us about your experience with the HGBA. How has it supported you in your local business?
I am new to HGBA and find it a great networking tool. I like meeting all the other business owners in the area and having the opportunity to help each other be successful.

What are the top three business tips and tricks you can offer other professionals?
Be consistent with your marketing, differentiate yourself and, most of all, surround yourself with people you aspire to be like.

Are you from this area? If not, what brought you here and what do you like about our town?
I lived in Maryland for most of my life, and in 2003 my husband’s job moved us to Haymarket. It’s a great place to live. Convenience of location, amenities, restaurants, parks, community activities and the wineries!

What is your favorite season in this area, and why?
Spring, as I look forward to the flowers, greenery, warmth and being outside in the community.

What are some hobbies you enjoy?
I love to travel, am a fan of natural health and nutrition, and enjoy thrift shopping and fashion.

What is your favorite restaurant?
Can’t say I have one. I love that we have so many choices in the area.

What is your favorite local high school sports team?
Battlefield Bobcats – football and girls’ field hockey.

Are you involved with any nonprofits?
I enjoy helping others and as such I’m a member of the Dominion Women’s Club, Habitat for Humanity,  and Children’s Miracle Network. RE/MAX Gateway is a CMN sponsor and a portion of my sales goes to the Children’s Hospital in Washington, D.C.

What was your most interesting job prior to your current profession?
I was a professional runway/print model in the DC area. I had the opportunity to model for Chanel, Yves St Laurent, Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, and Ralph Lauren.  I was also an extra in “In the Line of Fire” with Clint Eastwood and Rene Russo, “Born Yesterday” with Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, and “Contact” with Matthew McConaughey and Jodi Foster, all of which were filmed locally.
