Pastors’ Prayer Breakfast on Human Trafficking
Every 30 seconds in the U.S., a child is sold for sexual purposes. That reality is hitting closer to home in Fauquier County every day.
“Sex trafficking doesn’t just happen to runaways and those in foster care, but to kids like me, who were raised in well-educated, middle class families,” one Northern Virginia teenage victim of sex trafficking said.
According to Fauquier Sheriff Bob Mosier, Fauquier County is a corridor to transport human trafficking victims to surrounding counties like Prince William, Loudoun and Stafford. Richmond is one of the leading cities in the U.S. for human trafficking.
This year’s National Day of Prayer in Fauquier County will feature a Pastors’ Prayer Breakfast on Human Trafficking, to educate church leaders about this evil, and to gather to pray for God’s help as we confront it.
The keynote speaker is The Honorable G. Zachary Terwilliger, 62nd United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. Sheriff Mosier will also speak, as well as Amelia Stansell, who is co-chair of the Fauquier County Human Trafficking Prevention Project, and Bill Woolf, executive director of Just Ask Prevention, a non-profit organization based in McLean focused on ending human trafficking in the U.S. and around the world through education, prevention and intervention. Local and state elected officials will also attend. Press is encouraged to attend.
The event will close with several prayers led by a diverse group of local pastors.
The prayer breakfast will be held at the Airlie Pavilion, with doors opening at 7:30 am for the breakfast, and the program begins at 8:00 am.
The event is made possible through the generosity of Airlie, Genesis Home Improvement in Bealeton, Golden Rule Builders in Catlett, and private donors.
