Join the Fauquier Education Farm for a free orientation to the Northern Piedmont Beginning Farmer Program. FEF has partnered with VA Tech and Virginia Cooperative Extension to present this course and help guide new farmers on their path to becoming professionals. The Beginning Farmer Program is a multi-class initiative to help aspiring and diversifying farmers make informed decisions about a new operation. The program will focus on whole farm planning, marketing, and farm business management. More information can be found here.

Find Your Heart in Old Town Warrenton
VonCanon General Store, 92 Main Street #102, Warrenton | 10am – 2pm

The shops and services of Old Town Warrenton are sharing the love by hosting a scavenger hunt in order to win some fun prizes! Visitors will try to find the 24 ceramic conversation hearts hidden within participating businesses. The hunt begins at VonCanon General Store where participants will receive a list of stores to visit. When you find a heart, jot down the word painted on it, or draw a quick sketch of what it looks like! When you’re finished, return to VonCanon to add your ballot to the raffle drawing. The drawing will be held at 3pm, and there are prize drawings for different numbers of hearts found. Please remember as you search for the hearts to be polite to the business owners and their customers. Check out the FB Event for updates!

Meet the Artist: John Kiernan
The Fauquier History Museum at the Old Jail, 10 Ashby Street, Warrenton | 10am – 2pm

“Motors” by John Kiernan

Having lived in Warrenton, VA since 1996, world-renowned decorative artist John Kiernan is proud to announce his first “local” signing. John specializes in realism and is known internationally for his mural paintings. He is a part of an elite group of international decorative painters known as “Salon” which represents fifteen countries. In 1987 John joined the Southampton Village Police Department located in New York and later joined the Fairfax County Police Department in Fairfax, VA. John continued his art by creating national logos, murals and paintings, which helped raise money for the Law Enforcement family through the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. His studio, Blue Line Studios was voted “Best Decorative Art Studio” by Home and Design Magazine in2014. He is perhaps best known for the work he has done for the Washington Capitals Hockey team.

Allegro Community School of the Arts Open House

Allegro Community School of the Arts is hosting an Open House in celebration of their their recent 7,000 square feet expansion. The expansion will allow the non-profit to continue growing its programs and add new ones based on community interest. Allegro’s instructors and students will dance, sing and perform small theatre skits for the public and discuss their new programs.  Allegro offers private lessons, musical theatre, orchestra, choir and vocal ensembles, music therapy, creative aging, music academy for the blind, recording arts, literacy, visual arts and workshops. The Art of Wine & Cheese

Join Philip Carter Winery for the last installment in this season’s Winter Wine Education Series! In this class, participants will get to experience the wines of Philip Carter paired with local and imported cheeses from around the world. Not only will you learn about wine appreciation, how wine is made, and the history of wine, but also the basics of pairing and how to create the perfect cheese course. Class price includes a tasting of four wines, including Philip Carter’s 1762, and quality cheeses. $45 per person.

Introduction to Stained Glass
430 E Shirley Ave, Warrenton | Tuesdays, 6 – 9pm

If you have ever considered giving stained glass a try, this is the class for you! The class is also a good refresher if it’s been a while since you’ve worked on a stained glass project. Students will use the copper foil method to create a beautiful panel and will be ready to take home and hang in a window. Choose from a selection of beginner patterns, pick your glass and off you go! All materials and the use of tools is included in the class fee. Please wear long pants, slacks and closed toe shoes for safety. Class is 4 sessions long and meets every Tuesday night.

$89.00 (Fauquier County Resident); $119.00 (Non-resident). Ages 10 & up. Last day to register is Thursday, January 31st.
