New section of Brookside Trails is now open

By Fauquier County Parks and Recreation Department

Great news for Fauquier County: the Fauquier County Parks and Recreation Department has acquired a new section of trails in the Brookside neighborhood. The two and a half additional miles of paved trails is now open to all county citizens.

Walking and other non-motorized forms of transportation are an important aspect of healthy living and quality of life for Fauquier residents. As part of Parks and Recreation’s commitment to expanding mobility in Fauquier County, these trails will provide vital access to other convenient trails, such as Vint Hill Farms in the future.

The trail traverses the following environs: woods, edge, open space and parallels roads. The trail surface is paved with a slope that is friendly to strollers, bicycles, and wheelchairs alike. Since the trail crosses several roads within Brookside, trail users will need to exercise pedestrian safety within crosswalks. Due to the close proximity to private property, trail users are asked to be respectful. The trails are accessible from dawn to dusk, daily.

Because of the Brookside Communities, the Parks and Recreation Department can offer three miles of citizen’s trails within the Brookside development.
